It is performed together with offering of either holy leaves, holy water of Rishikesh Ganga, honey, milk, curd, sugar, sugarcane juice to Lord Trimbakeshwar.

The Brahmins chants the mantras loudly. These are written in Sanskrit, an ancient Indian language. It is believed that this language is used by the gods for communication. Usually, the Brahmins can chant in this language. The vibrations produced by this chanting will calm the mind of the listeners and provide them with mental peace.

Rudra Abhishek Puja

Rudra Abhishek Puja is performed by anointing the Shivling with 11 items and chanting 108 names of Lord Shiva. People perform this puja to please Lord Shiva in the form of Rudra. In this, the Shivling is regularly bathed with water, which is known as Rudrasukta. However, it is seen as the greatest worship by all Vedic scriptures. Abhishek is the worship ceremony of the Lord.

According to our Ramayan when Lord Rama was exiled and was searching for Maa Sita, he came to Rameshwaram. He created a Shiva Lingam with his own hands at Rameshwaram before crossing the sea. He performed Rudrabhishekam to show his devotion to Lord Shiva. Lord Shiva blessed him so that he could win over Ravana and bring back Rama Sita. He was then able to cross over to Sri Lanka to fight Ravana and bring back Maa Sita. This Puja is one of the greatest Pujas to eliminate all evils, conquer enemies, improve marital life, and fulfill all wishes for success and peace.
